Birthday

I gotta say I made some kick-ass cupcakes. My dear sweet husband's birthday is today!! I wanted to make him a cake- but my cake pans are all kaput. And my frosting skills aren't all that- they always crack and the layers slide around. Tragic. But these chocolate cupcakes are a Barefoot Contessa recipe and they are really pretty amazing. They have a little coffee for flavor and sour cream and buttermilk for moisture... The frosting is off the Marthastewart website- but really all I want from frosting is to not have to deal with egg whites. There is a recipe on the confectioner's sugar box that works just as well. However, my new mixer is really fun to use.

This is a crazy busy workweek for him, so we are going out for a nice dinner on Friday.
